Oscar de Marcos hopes Nico Williams will stay with Bilbao for a long time

Oscar de Marcos hopes his teammate Nico Williams will stay with Athletic Bilbao for a long time.

According to Marca Athletic are aware of Juventus’ interest and is pushing to open new contract talks with Nico Williams.

Williams’ current deal runs till 2024 and it carries a buyout clause of €50m.

“For us, if they continue with Athletic for a long time, it would be good for the club and, as a fan, I would love to enjoy them for many years. I hope so,” de Marcos said.

De Marcos also said he feels comfortable playing with Nico Williams on the pitch.

“Well, I feel very comfortable. He likes to improve, he asks me a lot, he helps me in many aspects. Sometimes I don’t get to turn because it goes so fast that I don’t have time to pass it. Defensively he is an involved player and responds to what you ask of him. When you tell him that he has to lend you a hand, he spares no effort. I appreciate it so much,”
