Orlando Pirates striker Kwame Peprah believes he is deserving of a call-up to the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, following his breakout season in South Africa.
The 21-year-old was nominated for the Premier Soccer League Young Player of the Season award after scoring seven goals in 25 appearances in his first season in South Africa’s top flight.
The former King Faisal star, however, was left out of Otto Addo’s 33-man Ghana squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
“Every Ghanaian player’s dream is to join the national team, to work and to support and be able to support his country. Considering my former performances with King Faisal and also this season at Orlando Pirates, I think I have done enough to be handed a call-up,” Kwame Peprah told JoySports.
“As the type of striker that I am, I can play on the left-wing, the right-wing and also as the centre-forward. My aerial duels are very good – that I can say. I think deserving a call-up is not a bad idea.”
“The current players in the [Black Stars] camp all also deserve the call-up so I wish them all the best of luck in the coming games,” Peprah added.
Peprah also scored two goals for Orlando Pirates who made the CAF Confederations Cup final for the first time since 2015.
