Ghana’s U-17 national team, the Black Starlets, have begun preparations for the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a 44-man squad named by head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.
The squad comprises players who featured at the 2025 WAFU B U-17 Championship, where Ghana secured qualification to the AFCON, as well as selected players from a nationwide screening exercise.
The Black Starlets will commence full-scale residential camping on January 19, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, with the technical team aiming to trim the squad down to the final 23 players for the tournament.
Ghana qualified for the 2026 U-17 AFCON after defeating Nigeria 2-0 in the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone B Championship, with goals from Michael Awuli and Robinho Yao Gavi.
