Official: Burnley appoint Vincent Kompany as manager

Burnley have confirmed the appointment of Vincent Kompany.

The Belgian head coach replaces Sean Dyche who was sacked by the club back in April.

He will be tasked with guiding the Clarets back into the top flight following their relegation this season.

The 36-year-old now has three years experience of being a manager.

Kompany took charge of RSC Anderlecht back in 2019, initially as player-manager.

Then in 2020, he took on the role full-time at the Belgian club.

Last season, he guided them to a 3rd place finish and into the Belgian Cup final.

But now, he faces a very different task with Burnley in a tricky position and having fallen into the second tier of English football.

The Lancashire club have already lost key players such as Ben Mee and James Tarkowski.

Meanwhile, the futures of Maxwel Cornet and Wout Weghorst are unclear.
