Number of COLTS football clubs shoot up due positive interventions from GFA

The number of COLTS clubs in the various regions has shot up in the last three years following positive interventions and undiluted commitment towards producing the next super stars in Ghana.

The Ghana Football Association has invested heavily in the supply of free footballs and bibs, payment of officiating fees, the introduction of Game Centres and increased subventions for the ten regional football Associations with the singular aim of developing COLTS football, as grassroots football remains a vital component of the football ecosystem.

With the support of KGL Foundation, the Ghana Football Association has consistently run the national U-17 and regional U-17 Championships within the last three seasons. Under this programme, the Ghana Football Association supplies plagues and trophies to regional champions, gold medals to the winning teams and silver medals to the runners up as well as plagues to the top scorers and best players in the various regions.

The Greater Accra Region has the highest number of COLTS clubs followed by the Western Region, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Central, Eastern, Northern and the two Upper regions of Ghana.

The Greater Accra Region commenced the 2023/24 season last week at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park with the other regions set to roll out their campaigns in the coming days.

Below is the statistics on the number of ACTIVE COLTS clubs in the ten regions:
