Spokesperson for the National Sports Authority (NSA), Charles Amofah, has refuted claims that his organization demanded GHC36,000 from Dreams FC for the use of Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the return leg of their CAF Confederation Cup match against Zamalek this Sunday.
Part of a letter was intercepted by the media where which managers the stadium, had imposed the hefty fee on the MTN FA Cup champions.
However, Amofah clarified that the financial request was actually directed at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), not Dreams FC.
“When you read the letter that the Ashanti Regional Acting Director [NSA] wrote to the FA, it clearly stated that the reason NSA is asking for a little support is based on the club’s decision [to allow free entry],” Amofah told Asempa FM.
“We have a good relationship with the FA. We did not write to Dreams FC. A copy was sent to Dreams because they are involved in the game, so it is only fair that they are aware of any communication.”
Dreams FC will host Zamalek FC in Kumasi following a goalless draw in Cairo last week. The match is set to kick off at 4 pm prompt.
