Super Falcons coach Justin Madugu has expressed his disappointment after missing out on the CAF Women’s Coach of the Year award, saying “I had expected that I would win the award. However that’s not the end of life, we would continue to do our best and make our country proud”.
Madugu led Nigeria to a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title at the 2024 showpiece, but ultimately lost out to TP Mazembe’s Lamia Boumehdi.
Many football observers have questioned CAF’s decision, given Madugu’s impressive achievements with the Super Falcons.
He was also the only African coach nominated for the Women’s Coach of the Year at the Ballon d’Or, highlighting his global recognition.
Madugu’s focus now shifts to defending Nigeria’s WAFCON title and qualifying for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
His determination and resilience serve as inspiration to many.
