Nigeria’s Kevin Akpoguma describes Kasim Adams’ lack of minutes at Hoffenheim as unlucky

Hoffenheim’s Nigerian defender, Kevin Akpoguma, has expressed sympathy for his teammate Kasim Adams, who is yet to feature in any games for the Bundesliga club this season.

Adams has not only struggled to secure a spot in the starting lineup but has also failed to make the match-day squad in the first 13 games of the season.

Kasim Adams spent the previous season on loan at Basel, where he made an impact, featuring in 50 games across all competitions and netting three goals.

Despite an option for Basel to make the move permanent, they declined, leading to Adams’ return to Hoffenheim for the current season.

Speaking after Hoffenheim’s 2-1 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach, Akpoguma disclosed that Kasim is training well and brings good energy to the team despite his lack of game time.

“He came as a big player for us with a lot of expectations. Very unlucky times, but, he’s training well, doing good, he’s happy, and giving good energy to the team during training,” he told Joy Sports.

“I just hope that in the future he gets back to regular play here or in a different team because he deserves it with his attitude. He’s a very good guy.

“I hope also that he will get selected for the AFCON so he can show himself again because I know he’s a very good player.”
