Nigeria have been left in a state of disappointment and anguish after Ghana’s Black Galaxies defeated the Super Eagles B 5-4 on penalties to book a ticket to the 2023 CHAN tournament in Algeria.
This becomes the second time in six months that Ghana have booked a qualification ticket to a major tournament at the expense of Nigeria.
In March of this year, the Black Stars left millions of Nigerians in grief after snatching qualification from the jaws of the Green and White nation at the same venue.
In Saturday’s encounter, Annor Walker and his Galaxies went into the tie with a strong 2-0 advantage from the first-leg played at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium last weekend.
For most part of the game, the Galaxies had their game plan working to perfection until 20-year-old Plateau United defender Zulkifilu Muhammad in the 76th minute to reduce the deficit.
On the brink of full-time Rivers United Nnamdi Akuneto scored to send the game into penalties where Ghana secured a 5-4 triumph at the Moshood Abiola National Sports Stadium.
