Lorient can harbor regrets before receiving the reigning French champions. This Sunday, as part of the 13th day of Ligue 1, FC Lorient fell against OGC Nice (1-2), thus ending a good series of 8 consecutive matches without knowing defeat in the league. The formation of Régis Le Bris however had the opportunity to kill the match, especially at the heart of a good first period during which the Aiglons suffered a lot. But Schmeichel, much criticized since his arrival from Leicester last summer, was decisive (6 saves), just like Atal, excellent on his right side.
The Niçois were however the first to be dangerous and the face of this meeting could have been very different if Barkley had not missed the target at close range on the reception of a good cross from Atal (3rd), already hot. This allowed the Breton team to quietly establish their game and their rhythm at Moustoir. Le Goff (6th), Le Fée (7th) then Diarra (13th) lit the first wicks from Lorient, in vain. The light finally came on a set piece, when Ouattara opened the scoring by unleashing a beautiful uncrossed header on a corner kicked by Le Fée (1-0, 18th).
Nice extinguished Lorient and the Moustoir
Lucien Favre, for his part, can therefore thank his experienced Danish goalkeeper. Schmeichel made two big decisive saves in front of Diarra (10th, 22nd) to keep his team in the game, which was struggling to be dangerous. Pépé, who forced Mvogo to make a double parade (27th) and Atal, after a very nice number (34th), still sounded the revolt. They have at least started it, because it was necessary to wait for the return of the locker rooms for the issue. Just before giving way to Lotomba, the Algerian side, very restless in Lorient, concluded a nice tumble with an impeccable cross shot from the left to equalize (1-1, 61st).
Laborde, who came into play at the break, then allowed Nice to pass thanks to a curling shot successfully countered by Talbi and having lobbed a helpless Mvogo (1-2, 70th). On loan from Arsenal, Pépé tried a lot without ever managing to set the sights (50th, 69th, 76th, 88th). Whatever, the Gym, saved by Lotomba on his line (85th), therefore knew how to turn his back to better get up in the second half and put out the Moustoir. Where the FCL series ends, that of the OGCN continues and now extends to 2 wins and 2 draws over the last four days of L1. Nice climbs to 10th place in the standings. Lorient, which could have better prepared the shock against PSG, remains 4th, 3 points from a place of dolphin long occupied in recent weeks.
