Newcastle United are planning a summer move for Tottenham and Denmark midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to reports.
Of course, Newcastle stealing a key player from a top-six side who look set to be playing in the Europa League at the very least next term used to be unthinkable.
However, the Magpies are now the richest club in the world so are a much more attractive proposition than they were just one year ago.
And now, the Mirror are reporting that ‘Newcastle are planning a £30 million summer move for Tottenham hard man Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’, with the midfielder said to be on Eddie Howe’s list of targets heading into the summer window.
It is added that AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho remains interested in Hojbjerg as well, after a failed bid last summer.

Hojbjerg happy at Tottenham
Though Newcastle may attract Hojbjerg due to the no doubt lucrative financial package they could offer, the Dane does seem to be happy in north London right now.
Hojbjerg is a mainstay in Spurs’ midfield at present and has been full of praise for his current boss, Antonio Conte:
“Antonio is a special coach, with a special way of doing things, with a very high level of performing,” Hojbjerg said. “There is always a time of adaptation, a time of understanding the sports side and also the personal side, and everything is coming together well.
“It’s important now to go with the flow and see how far we can take it, because the team is evolving very positively. That creates a platform where we can perform at a really very high level. We’re climbing the ladder, so it’s difficult to stop and look back down, we have to keep going and stay focused on the next challenge ahead. That’s how I think to work the best, not to draw too many conclusions, try to maintain a high level of focus and performance, be consistent in your behaviour and to enjoy the process, because eventually this is what makes you better.”
