Nations FC were forced to settle for a goalless draw at home by a resilient Karela United as the first round of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League concluded at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
The hosts came agonisingly close to securing all three points in the second half but squandered a golden opportunity when Emmanuel Annor missed from the penalty spot.
The match started in lively fashion, with Nations FC threatening early from a free-kick that was well blocked by Karela’s defensive wall. Moments later, the visitors responded with a corner kick of their own, but the Nations defence stood firm to clear the danger.
Clear-cut chances were few and far between as both sides struggled to impose themselves in the final third, and the tempo gradually dipped before the referee brought the first half to an end.
After the restart, Nations FC increased the pressure and enjoyed a sustained spell of dominance. Their persistence earned them a penalty, but Karela goalkeeper Ganiu Mohammed produced a heroic save to deny Annor and keep the scores level.
Karela United remained composed under mounting pressure, defending resolutely despite a hostile atmosphere generated by the home supporters. Nations FC pushed forward in search of a late winner, but the visitors held their shape to secure a valuable away point.
