Nations FC owner Dr. Kwame Kyei has voiced his profound disappointment over his involvement in Ghana football, following violent scenes that erupted during his side’s crucial clash with Basake Holy Stars on Sunday.
The highly anticipated fixture, which could have sealed Nations FC’s first-ever Ghana Premier League title, descended into controversy after two contentious penalties were awarded to the home team.
The officiating decisions sparked outrage, ultimately leading to Nations FC abandoning the game in protest.
Tensions escalated further when Dr. Kyei and the club’s president, Divine Kyei Boadu, were allegedly attacked at the Ampain AAK II Arena.
“I have regretted getting involved in Ghana football,” Dr. Kyei told Asempa FM.
“I have lost the passion for it. We are hoping for a change. If we all sit and only complain about it, then we are not acting right as elderly people.”
Despite the magnitude of the incident, the Ghana Football Association is yet to release an official statement, prompting calls from fans and stakeholders for swift action and transparency.
