The draw threw up some intriguing fixtures, pitting lower division sides against elite clubs. The Event, which marked a return to the Western Region after the last draw held in the region  in 2015, was attended by a number of notable personalities, including Nana Brekrom, former national stars George Owu and Stephen Baidoo, MTN Regional Manager, Prince Owusu, Rev. Dr. Pearson,  Competitions Manager of the Western Regional Football Association, Kuntu Blankson Regional Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), and a number of Club officials.

MTN FA Cup Committee Chairman, Wilson Arthur, welcomed guests and wished participating clubs the best of luck in the competition. “We’re excited to see the drama unfold in the MTN FA Cup. We wish all participating clubs the best of luck and look forward to some thrilling encounters,” he said.

One of the standout fixtures is the heavyweight clash between reigning GPL Champions, Samartex 1996, and current league leaders, Bibiani Gold Stars. Other interesting pairings include lower division sides facing off against top-flight teams, promising some potential upsets, epitomizing the essence of the competition being a respecter of no clubs.

The MTN FA Cup is one of Ghana’s most prestigious domestic competitions, with a rich history of drama and excitement. This season’s tournament promises to be just as thrilling, with the Round of 64 draw setting the stage for some mouth-watering encounters.

The Round of 64 matches will take place from November 29 – December 2, 2024.
