Mozambique side CFV Maputo extends contract of Maxwell Boakye

Mozambique side Clube Ferroviario de Maputo has announced the contract extension of Ghana’s Maxwell Boakye.

After an eventful debut season with the Maputo-based club, Boakye, who signed on a free transfer after ending his stint with Nzema Aiyinasi-based Karela United, is set to continue with Clube Ferroviario de Maputo for another season.

The 29-year-old striker has 18 rounds of Locomotives games under his belt, with 10 goals and five assists.

Boakye and his team will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup the following year when CFV Maputo defeated Clube Ferroviario da Beira 1-0 in the Taca de Mozambique Cup final at the National Stadium of Zimpeto.

Clube Ferroviario de Maputo is currently fifth on the league table with 22 points after 15 games.

In 1976, the club was renamed Clube Ferroviário de Maputo. In 1982, the club won its first two titles, the Cup of Mozambique, and the Mozambican League.

The club plays its home matches at Estádio da Machava, which has a maximum capacity of 45,000 people.
