Morocco’s hosting of the Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) continues to break records on several fronts with the attendance the latest to fall with a whopping 45,562 people turning up to watch the match between the host nation and defending champions Nigeria on Monday night.
The semi-final match between the Atlas Lionesses and Super Falcon set a new attendance record in the history of women’s football in Africa after thousands of fans turned up in Rabat to watch the talented ladies play.
Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat was packed with Moroccan fans who cheered and chanted in support of the Moroccan women’s football team.
The stadium also saw the attendance of Nigerian fans who came to support and motivate their home country’s team.

The semi-final game ended with Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses earning a spot in the finals after beating Nigeria’s Super Falcons 4-5 on penalty kicks.

Monday’s win marks Morocco’s first time reaching the finals of the continental championship.
The WAFCON’s final, which will take place on Saturday, July 23 in Rabat, is expected to set another attendance record in the competition.
Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses will face South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in the final match, with both teams looking to claim their first WAFCON title.
The Moroccan women’s football team has also qualified for the World Cup for the first time in its history.
The competition will take place in Australia and New Zealand,
