Mohammed Salisu continues to shine on Europe’s biggest stage after being named in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Week following Monaco’s crucial 1–0 win over Galatasaray.
The Ghanaian defender was immense throughout the Matchday 6 clash, organising the backline and shutting down several dangerous attacks from the Turkish side.
His recognition comes on the back of a growing run of top-level performances, including a recent Man of the Match showing against Pafos FC.
Salisu lined up in the Team of the Week’s defence alongside Jules Koundé, O’Reilly and David Hancko, an indication of the level he is currently operating at.
The centre-back once again proved decisive against Galatasaray, earning a 7.5 rating and limiting star striker Victor Osimhen to half-chances.
This season, Salisu has made five Champions League appearances and 15 in all competitions, scoring once as he cements himself as a defensive mainstay for Monaco.
His resurgence is particularly remarkable considering his limited minutes under former manager Adi Hütter last season.
Now a pillar in the squad, Salisu’s performances continue to attract praise across Europe.
