Trabzonspor have entered negotiations to sign Mohamed Salah by submitting a formal offer to the Egypt captain after his departure from Liverpool.

The Turkish club are attempting to persuade Salah to begin a new chapter in his career with a contract that reflects their ambition to recruit one of the biggest names in world football.

According to Turkish journalist Yagız Sabuncuoglu, writing on X, Trabzonspor officials held a meeting with a representative of Salah. During the discussions, the club presented its formal proposal and went through the details of the proposed agreement.

The offer reportedly includes an annual salary of €17m and a two-year contract. The scale of the package underlines Trabzonspor’s determination to complete a deal for the former Liverpool forward.

Salah is currently a free agent after his career at Liverpool came to an end at the conclusion of last season. He spent several highly successful years at Anfield, becoming one of the most important players in the club’s modern history.

During his time with the Reds, Salah played a central role in a series of domestic and European triumphs. His performances also established him as one of the Premier League’s outstanding players and one of the most influential figures in Liverpool’s history.

Trabzonspor are not the only club to have been linked with the 33-year-old. Salah’s position has attracted attention from a number of teams since his Liverpool spell ended, with Turkish rivals Besiktas among those understood to have shown significant interest.

However, talks between Besiktas and Salah did not result in a final agreement because of financial differences between the two sides.

Clubs from the Saudi Pro League are also continuing to monitor the player’s situation. Al-Ittihad are regarded as the leading club among those to have expressed strong interest in signing him during previous periods.

Salah leaves Liverpool with an extensive collection of honours. He won the Premier League twice with the club and helped them secure the Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

Those team achievements were accompanied by a series of individual awards and records, strengthening Salah’s reputation as one of the leading players in world football in recent years.

Trabzonspor’s proposal now places the Turkish club among the teams seeking to secure Salah’s signature, although the report does not state that an agreement has been reached. The negotiations remain focused on the terms of the offer presented to his representative, as clubs continue to assess the next destination for the Egypt captain.
