Mohamed Salah has agreed to join Trabzonspor on a two-year contract, according to Turkish journalist Yagız Sabuncuoglu, with only one clause still awaiting approval before the former Liverpool forward can complete the move.
Sabuncuoglu said on his personal account on X that the Egypt international had reached an agreement with Trabzonspor over a transfer during the current summer window.
However, the journalist added that one provision in the proposed contract had not yet been approved by Trabzonspor. Once that issue is resolved, Salah will be able to sign officially for the Turkish club.
The reported agreement would bring an end to a period of uncertainty over the 33-year-old’s next destination. Salah left Liverpool after the conclusion of last season, having spent nine years at Anfield and become one of the most influential players in the club’s modern history.
His future had been linked with a number of clubs in recent months. In Saudi Arabia, he was associated with Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al Ahli, Al Qadsiah and Diriyah. He was also reported to be a target for Turkish side Besiktas before those discussions became more complicated.
Al-Ittihad subsequently made an offer for the Egyptian forward, but Salah is said to have preferred a move to Turkey. Trabzonspor now appears to have won the race for his signature, subject to the outstanding contractual condition.
If completed, Trabzonspor will become the seventh club represented by Salah during his professional career. He began with Egyptian side Al Mokawloon Al Arab before moving to Basel in Switzerland.
His career then took him to Italy, where he played for Fiorentina and Roma, before returning to England with Chelsea and later joining Liverpool. The move to Anfield proved to be the most significant chapter of his career.
Salah spent nine complete years with Liverpool between 2017 and 2026, establishing himself as one of the club’s leading goalscorers and most decorated players. During that period, he helped Liverpool win the Premier League twice.
He also played a key role in the club’s success in Europe and internationally, winning the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup once each.
His departure from Liverpool at the end of last season prompted widespread speculation about where he would continue his career. A move to Saudi Arabia appeared possible at various stages, while Besiktas was initially considered one of the strongest contenders in Turkey.
The latest report, however, indicates that Salah has settled on Trabzonspor. The transfer will not be formally completed until the club gives its approval to the final clause in the two-year agreement.
