Mikel Arteta in plea to Arsenal fans ahead of Chelsea

Mikel Arteta in plea to Arsenal fans ahead of Chelsea

Mikel Arteta has sent a message to Arsenal fans ahead of the Gunners’ next outing.

Arsenal will face off with Chelsea on Wednesday evening in a Premier League clash.

Ahead of the game, Arsenal are on a dismal run of form and have also seemingly lost both Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey to injury for the remainder of the campaign.

In turn, Mikel Arteta has urged Arsenal fans to give all their support to the players as they are still only young and are in need of assistance:

“Give all their support in the world to them, because they need it,” Arteta said when asked how he can help his players in the coming weeks. “They are 19, 20, 21 years old, most of them and that’s what they need. We are in the same position where we were with one less game. “We have to play on Wednesday and we have to lift them up. And the task is big, but the opportunity is as well.”

Chelsea vs Arsenal

Should Arsenal lose to Chelsea, it will likely prove fatal to their chances of finishing 4th.

The north Londoners are currently three points off 4th-place Tottenham with a game in hand.

However, the game in hand comes against Chelsea and, as Arsenal have a dismal record against the big sides this term, it is hard to see Mikel Arteta’s team getting anything out of the game.

Should they lose, they will be three points off Tottenham with just six games left to play. Arsenal’s goal difference is also much worse than Spurs currently, so even if they win their game in hand, they will not overtake Antonio Conte’s side.
