Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo is on the verge of becoming Plymouth Argyle’s first January signing, after completing his medical at the club on December 31.
The 25-year-old will be joining the English Championship side from Swedish outfit Elfsborg.
Argyle had previously attempted to sign Baidoo in the summer, with a club-record bid in August.
However, the deal fell through as Baidoo chose to prioritize Elfsborg’s qualification for the Europa League.
He has since made a significant impact in the European competition, scoring two goals in six games against notable teams like Roma and Galatasaray.
Baidoo was present at Argyle’s 2-2 draw against Bristol City, watching the game from the directors’ area in the Lower Mayflower Grandstand.
His arrival is expected to bring a much-needed boost to the team, who are currently struggling at the bottom of the Championship table
