Medeama Sporting Club have explained that the signing of Sudan international goalkeeper Monged Abuzaud Salman is intended to strengthen competition within the squad, even though Felix Kyei is available and fit.
Moses Armah Parker, the club’s bankroller, said the decision was not prompted by an absence of options in goal. Instead, Medeama want to ensure there is genuine competition in key areas of the team, with the goalkeeping department identified as a particular priority.
The arrival of Salman is therefore being viewed as part of a wider squad-building strategy rather than a direct response to concerns over Kyei’s fitness or availability. Armah Parker said the club believes having quality players competing for places will encourage higher standards across the team.
“We want top competition in some of our positions especially the goalkeeping aspect”.
