Medeama SC and FC Samartex played out a pulsating 1–1 draw at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Saturday, in one of the standout fixtures of the Ghana Premier League matchweek.
The defending champions were forced to come from behind after Samartex’s Dramani Awuah scored a sensational goal from the centre circle capitalising on Medeama’s careless loss of possession. His long-range strike, which stunned the home crowd, is already being touted as an early contender for Goal of the Season.
Medeama piled on relentless pressure in search of an equaliser, and their persistence finally paid off in the 89th minute when Kingsley Braye reacted quickest to a rebound, slotting home from close range to salvage a point.
Despite the result, the hosts dominated much of the game, registering 29 total shots — 13 of them on target and 13 corners compared to Samartex’s four attempts.
The draw keeps Medeama temporarily top of the league table, while Samartex extend their unbeaten run to six matches, boasting two wins and four draws.
Medeama will host Swedru All Blacks next, as Samartex return home to face Hohoe United.
