Medeama SC have received a timely lift ahead of their high-stakes Ghana Premier League showdown against Hearts of Oak, with AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine set to officially announce a USD 200,000 sponsorship package for the Tarkwa-based club.
The deal, which will be formally unveiled in the coming days, confirms AngloGold Ashanti as Medeama’s headline sponsor under a one-year renewable agreement. GhanaSoccernet had exclusively revealed the partnership earlier this season, and the latest announcement seals the agreement.
The financial injection is expected to significantly strengthen Medeama’s position both on and off the pitch, as the league leaders prepare for a fixture that could shape the title race. The Mauve and Yellow head into the weekend determined to maintain their grip at the summit of the table.
This sponsorship builds on an existing relationship between the two parties. During Medeama’s 2023 CAF Champions League campaign, AngloGold Ashanti provided USD 100,000 in financial support — a partnership that has now evolved into a more substantial commitment.
At a time when many Ghana Premier League clubs are grappling with financial challenges, the deal places Medeama among the most financially stable sides in the division. Beyond Sunday’s clash with Hearts of Oak, the funding is expected to support player welfare, logistics and overall club operations as Medeama push for sustained success this season.
