Ghanaian defender Maxwell Woledzi has arrived in Tennessee to officially begin his career with Major League Soccer side Nashville SC ahead of the 2026 season.
The 24-year-old centre-back completed his move from Norwegian club Fredrikstad after signing a contract that will keep him at Nashville SC until 2028, with an option to extend for a further year. Woledzi cut short his vacation in Ghana to link up with his new teammates as pre-season preparations got underway.
A graduate of the Right to Dream Academy, Woledzi has already taken part in early training sessions at the Vanderbilt Health Training Center in Antioch before the squad travelled to Florida to continue their build-up.
He is expected to make his unofficial debut for the club in a pre-season friendly against Chicago Fire on Tuesday, January 20. Nashville SC will also face Colorado Rapids, Birmingham Legion, Columbus Crew and Lexington SC as part of their pre-season schedule.
Woledzi’s first competitive appearance for the MLS outfit is set to come in the Concacaf Champions Cup clash against Atletico Ottawa on February 17.
The Ghanaian defender brings significant European experience to Nashville SC, having previously featured for FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark, Portugal’s Vitoria Guimaraes and Fredrikstad in Norway, a background that is expected to bolster the club’s defensive options heading into the new campaign.
