Former Al Ahli head coach Matthias Jaissle has thanked the club’s supporters for their faith in him, saying he leaves Jeddah with “nothing but pride and love” after a successful three-year spell.
The German coach published an emotional farewell message on his official Instagram account, his first comments since his departure from the Saudi club was formally confirmed.
Jaissle’s exit came after he resigned during a difficult period before the start of the season, with one year still remaining on his contract. His decision prompted a strong reaction from sections of the Al Ahli fanbase, who criticised him heavily over the timing of his departure.
In his message, Jaissle said the supporters had been the first people to back him when he arrived in Jeddah and that his time at the club would remain one of the most significant chapters of his coaching career.
“From the first day, you, the fans, were the ones who gave me trust and believed in me. After three years, winning two AFC Champions League titles, lifting the Super Cup and experiencing so many unforgettable moments, I leave Jeddah with nothing but pride and love for you,” he said.
Jaissle was referring to the major successes achieved during his tenure, when he guided Al Ahli to two AFC Champions League Elite titles as well as the Saudi Super Cup.
He also reflected on the emotional experiences that shaped his time in charge, writing: “Every match, every challenge and every celebration made this journey unforgettable.”
The former coach ended his statement by offering his thanks to Al Ahli’s supporters and wishing the club well in the next stage of its development.
“Thank you for your trust and belief in me… I wish you all the best,” Jaissle added.
The message drew widespread interaction from Al Ahli fans, coming after a period of controversy and debate surrounding the circumstances of his departure.
