‘Massive step down’ – Journalist in brutal Everton assessment of reported Adama Traore chase

Adama Traore moving to Everton would be a ‘massive step down’ thinks one journalist, amid links between the Toffees and the player.

Traore has been plying his trade at Barcelona since January. The Wolves man made the loan move after mainly featuring as a sub for the Molinuex side this season.

Indeed, the Spaniard started just 10 Premier League games this term. Furthermore, Traore contributed to just one goal for the Midlanders this season.

He immediately made more of an impact for La Blaugrana, though. The winger provided two assists within his first two games for Barcelona.

His goal contributions for Barca this season currently stand at four. It looks as if the Spaniard is thriving back at his boyhood club.

There have been reports that the Spanish giants are keen on making his deal permanent. However, it is reported that Everton are also looking at a transfer for Traore.

Should Barcelona not be able to pay the fee for Traore this summer, his contract would likely run down for the next year. Wolves would rather ship him out to another side than let that happen, and that could play into the Toffees’ hands.

However, moving to Everton would apparently be a step in the wrong direction for Traore.

“Everton reportedly want to sign the player,” said a talkSPORT EDGE journalist.

“However, no disrespect but moving from Barcelona to Everton would be a huge step down.”

Other clubs may come in for Traore

The journalist also stated that there may be other teams that could register an interest in the winger.

“There are clubs bigger than Everton who would probably be interested in the player,” she said.

“Sorry, I don’t see this one happening.”

While other clubs may come in for Traore, that has not happened as yet. There was reported interest from Tottenham, but whether or not they still want him remains to be seen.

As such, a move to one of Everton or Barcelona appears to be the most likely course of action to this point.
