Manchester United have reportedly upped the ante in their pursuit of Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, sending their chief scout to watch his most recent outing at Molineux.
That is according to midlands outlet Birmingham Mail, who claim that ‘Manchester United sent a senior scout to Molineux to watch Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves in person on Saturday’.
There is an expectation that Neves will leave Wolves this summer, with the Red Devils and Arsenal thought to be two of the main interested parties in the Portuguese midfielder, and it is thought that Wolves will demand a club-record sale, meaning that any deal will have to be worth more than the £45m that they sold Diogo Jota to Liverpool for.

Just last week, Bruno Lage claimed that Neves had a value of £100m, but it seems unlikely that either the club will demand that or that anyone would pay it, with the real value perhaps at most half of that for a man who will have two years left on his contract come the summer.

Unfortunately, the chief scout will have been left underwhelmed after watching what was Neves’ first start since he was ruled out with injury in March. The 24-year-old managed just 45 minutes before being withdrawn as his side fell to a 3-0 defeat to Brighton.
