Premier League side Manchester United is close to agreeing a deal with Barcelona for midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
As reported by Sky Sports News, United and Barcelona have a ‘broad agreement’ on the fee that is believed to be €65m plus performance-related add-ons.
Discussions continue over the finer details of the agreement, but there appears to be an increased confidence a deal can be struck.
Personal terms are not expected to be a problem.
If United finalise the deal for the 25-year-old, it could trigger a cascade effect in terms of other signings. Free agent Christian Eriksen is rumoured to be waiting to confirm De Jong’s arrival before committing his own future to United.
