Manchester United has joined the hunt for FC Nordsjaelland’s Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi, with scouts sent to watch him in action.
Yirenkyi, dubbed the “next Michael Essien”, has been linked with Brighton as a potential successor to Carlos Baleba, who is expected to leave the club this summer.
The 20-year-old has been impressing with Nordsjaelland, scoring 3 goals and providing 6 assists in 39 appearances.
Yirenkyi’s impressive form has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham.
However, he recently rejected a move to an unnamed Premier League club in January, prioritizing regular playing time and his chances of making Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Nordsjaelland’s sporting director Alexander Riget has stated that Yirenkyi is worth over €25 million, and the club is expecting a significant offer this summer.
With his blend of power, ball-winning intelligence, and progressive passing, Yirenkyi is seen as a top prospect in European football.
