Man United starlet Garnacho draws praise of Javier Mascherano

Watch: Man United starlet Garnacho draws praise of Javier Mascherano after latest international goal

Argentine icon Javier Mascherano has, on Friday, briefly spoken out regarding the talents of up-and-coming Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho.

Midfield prodigy Garnacho was back in action on the international stage a short time ago.

Fresh off a hugely impressive campaign at Old Trafford, which saw him bag the award for Man United Young Player of the Year, the 17-year-old was last month afforded a call-up to his country’s U20 setup, for the latest edition of the famed Toulon Tournament.

And Garnacho has since only gone about adding further to his reputation as one of world football’s most gifted up-and-coming stars.

Earlier this week, the attack-minded midfielder turned heads courtesy of a brace, including the following set-piece special, during Argentina’s Toulon defeat at the hands of France:

This came fresh off Garnacho bagging the only goal of the game in his country’s previous outing, en route to a 1-0 downing of Panama.

And on Friday, once more, the prodigious Red Devils talent played a starring role, as Argentina rounded out their campaign in the south of France with a 3-2 downing of South Korea.

After opening the scoring in the clash, Garnacho later bagged a telling assist, too, to ensure that the Albiceleste secured a respectable 5th-placed Toulon Tournament finish.

And, as alluded to above, such efforts have since culminated in the 17-year-old drawing the praise of compatriot and Argentine icon Javier Mascherano.

Ex-Barcelona and West Ham midfielder Mascherano is the current manager of his country’s U20s, and was therefore drawn on Garnacho’s abilities during an exchange with the media on Friday evening.

And the 38-year-old went on to reveal his high hopes for the Manchester United man, assuring that he boasts ‘huge potential’:

‘I think he has a promising future. He has huge potential,’ Mascherano explained.
