Manchester United is apparently trying to save £80 million from its yearly salary expenditure this summer, with a number of undesired players set to depart Old Trafford.

At the end of June, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Edinson Cavani, and Juan Mata are all expected to depart United on free transfers.

Pogba earns £275,000 every week, while Cavani earns £250,000 every seven days, so their exits next month will save the club a lot of money.

Lingard (£110,000), Matic (£140,000), and Mata (£175,000) are also set to go as incoming head coach Erik ten Hag prepares to make significant changes at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils, according to the Daily Star, want to cut £80 million from their yearly pay cost and are going to sell a number of players.

Anthony Martial, who earns £250,000 per week, is expected to be surplus to requirements once he returns from his loan term with Sevilla.

Meanwhile, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones, who earn £110,000 and £80,000 per week respectively, are said to be available for a summer move.

Dean Henderson is also seen to be surplus to requirements, with David de Gea expected to remain the team’s first-choice goalkeeper under Ten Hag.

Henderson, who earns £110,000 a week at Old Trafford has been linked with a move to Newcastle United.

Man United will not feature in the Champions League next season, but they are competing for sixth place in the Premier League table, which would qualify them for the Europa League in 2022-23.
