Man set to leave the club if Moyes stays as manager

Although they’re having another fine season under David Moyes, all is not well at West Ham at present.

The East Londoners are hanging on the coat-tails of the top six in the Premier League and are safely through to the knockout stages of the Europa League which begin again next week.

There’s a school of thought that the Irons are doing so well in spite of their manager not because of him, but you don’t get to win a European final and qualify for European competition for three seasons in a row if you’re not any good.

The problem for the Hammers seems to be Moyes’ unwillingness to bend to the will of others or take on board any new ideas.

As the second oldest manager in the Premier League behind Roy Hodgson, that shouldn’t really come as a surprise.

Tim Steidten came to the club and was a breath of fresh air in terms of being able to land certain targets.

Indeed, Moyes has Steidten to thank for bringing the likes of Mo Kudus and Edson Alvarez to East London.

The friction between the pair has been well documented, however, and that’s likely to see Steidten leaving the club this summer if the Hammers hierarchy press ahead with handing Moyes a new contract as expected.

“Perhaps Moyes staying adds credence to why Steidten might be more likely to leave West Ham and go to Liverpool right now,” journalist, Dean Jones, said to Give Me Sport.

“But I think we also have to weigh in that Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs you could ever be involved in, and it is extremely difficult to say no to them if they do come knocking.”
