A pair of altogether noteworthy statistics surrounding the goalscoring endeavours of Chelsea hitman Romelu Lukaku have come to the fore on Saturday afternoon.
Thomas Tuchel’s troops, of course, were back in action a short time ago.
Fresh off a concerning defeat at the hands of relegation-battling Everton, the Blues welcomed Wolverhampton Wanderers to Stamford Bridge, eyeing a swift return to winning ways.
And, with a full 96 minutes on the clock, all three points is precisely what Chelsea looked set for.
This came with the aforementioned Lukaku having proved the star of the show, opening the game’s scoring from the penalty spot early in the 2nd-half, before doubling his tally two minutes later.

Wolves, though, simply refused to accept defeat, first pulling one back ten minutes from time courtesy of substitute Trincao, before captain Conor Coady came up clutch deep into time added on, nodding home to secure a share of the spoils for Bruno Lage’s visitors.
Gerrard equalled
Despite his side’s eventual collapse, though, as alluded to above, brace-hitter Lukaku, on Saturday, nevertheless secured for himself an altogether impressive pair of benchmarks.
First up, it was revealed that the Belgian international has equalled Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard in the all-time Premier League goalscoring charts, with 120 strikes to his name:

Not only that, but, despite the frequent and frankly ruthless criticism aimed in his direction across the campaign to date, Lukaku also now stands as Chelsea’s outright top goalscorer in 2021/22:
