Long linked to rumors around River Plate in Argentina, LA Galaxy in the United States and Cruz Azul or América Club in Mexico, the Uruguayan legend, Luis Suarez (35) has finally opted for the proposal of the Brazilian club Grêmio, based in the city of Porto Alegre. After negotiations that dragged on due to administrative matters, the former Barcelona striker has made a good commitment with the Brazilian team. The president of Grêmio did not want the file to drag on and thus miss the boat as was the case in the past with Edinson Cavani: “It’s a complex negotiation. It does not depend only on him or even only on Grêmio. If we’re speaking after what’s already been reported, it’s because we’ve kind of moved on.”
Without a club since leaving Nacional in Uruguay, Luis Suarez is on vacation after participating in the World Cup in Qatar with the Uruguayan selection. His two-year contract with Grêmio will be supported by complementary marketing actions and financial partnerships. The salary offered for Suárez is close to 1.5 million Brazilian reais per month to which must be added several bonuses.
