Luis Guilherme, a talented Brazilian attacking player, has penned a five-year deal with Mohammed Kudus’ West Ham United for £25.5m from Brazilian outfit Palmeiras.
The 18-year lad, who was a constant feature in the Copa Libertadores for Palmeiras, becomes the first signing of the summer for the Hammers.
After already shipping out some players, Guilherme’s addition bolsters West Ham’s attack for the upcoming season, with Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta attracting interest from elite European clubs.
The young prodigy, who teamed up with Real Madrid-bound Endrick, caused havoc in the Brazilian League all season, and will hope to replicate the same devastating threat in the Premier League.
“The Premier League is the best league in the world. I believe i’ll improve a lot here with the entire staff at West Ham, which is crucial for my development, he said.
Guilherme becomes the first signing under the Julen Lopetegui era after the latter replaced the hounded out David Moyes in the dugout.
Kudus, who was on hand to assist 19-year-old George Earthy (a player who rose through the West Ham ranks) in the penultimate Pemier League game of the season against Luton Town, will relish at the prospect of teaming up with the youngster.
