Revealed: Liverpool’s stance on Curtis Jones’ future at the club

Liverpool’s stance on selling Curtis Jones in the 2022 summer transfer window has been revealed.

Curtis Jones is a product of Liverpool’s youth academy, and has spent his entire career on Merseyside.

Jones, now 21, has so far made 74 appearances for Liverpool’s senior side, a large majority of which came during the 2020/21 campaign.

The Reds’ well-documented injury crisis resulted in Fabinho and Jordan Henderson routinely being either forced to line out at centre-back, or sit out fixtures altogether due to injuries of their own.

This would open the door to Jones being handed a regular starting berth by Jurgen Klopp.

Jones featured 34 times for Liverpool during 2020/21, but it was fairly obvious that he was not at the level required to start on a regular basis for Liverpool.

As a result, it was not too surprising when the Englishman did not feature in Liverpool’s first four league games of the 2021/22 campaign.

Instead, Klopp opted to call upon fellow youngster Harvey Elliott who struck up an excellent understanding down Liverpool’s right-hand side with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

However, Elliott suffered a horrific injury vs Leeds United on September 12th and went on to miss a large part of the season, leaving the door open for Jones to earn a lot more action than he probably would have had Elliott remained fit.

So, with Elliott now back fit and Liverpool having also recently signed Fabio Carvalho from Fulham, there was an exception that Jones would be moved on this summer.

But, according to Goal, Liverpool have no intention of giving up on Curtis Jones any time soon:
