Aberdeen starlet Calvin Ramsay has spoken of his admiration for Trent Alexander-Arnold as Liverpool continue to be heavily linked with a summer swoop.
Ramsay is on the radar of the Reds after impressing scouts and a swoop could be on the cards. Liverpool recently completed the signing of Ben Doak from Celtic. And he could soon be joined by Ramsay.
The 18-year-old has been a revelation for Aberdeen this season. The Dons have had a disappointing season in the Scottish Premiership and sit in ninth place. However Ramsay has been a bright spark for them when making 32 appearances.
Liverpool are in the hunt for the new Alexander-Arnold and feel they may have found their man. With Neco Williams also set for a potential permanent switch to Fulham, Ramsay could replace him.
Ramsay remains fully focused on his time with Aberdeen and is choosing to ignore all the rumours. However he is well aware that Liverpool and a host of other clubs are keen.
The youngster was quizzed about the rumours after being named Scottish Football Writers’ Young Player of the Year. He is flattered but will see the season out and then decide on his next move.
“There has been quite a few clubs linked with me, in January as well,” he told reporters. “But, for me, I’m still an Aberdeen player, I’ve still got to focus on the four games left this season and keep putting in good performances if I can get myself back in the team. In the summer, we’ll see where it takes me.
“It’s good being linked with those clubs but I’ve just tried to block it out really. You can’t get caught up in all of that.”

However he admits to modelling his game on Reds ace Alexander-Arnold. And if the Reds do make a move then he is sure to jump at the chance. Liverpool will have no issues agreeing a fee. The player will just have to make a decision and the chance to be the next Alexander-Arnold will excite him.
“Obviously players like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kyle Walker, all those top players, I like to watch videos of them and try and base my game on them,” he added.
“As a full-back, watching Trent and his crosses and his technical ability, if I can get to that level then it would be a bonus. But at Aberdeen, I’m just trying to do as well as I can and see where that takes me.”
