Liverpool extend England international center-back Joe Gomez until 2027

England international Joe Gomez signs contract extension with Liverpool; deal until 2027

England international center-back Joe Gomez can continue to call Anfield home for the next five years after the 25-year-old extended his stay with Premier League giants Liverpool.

Reports in The Mirror have confirmed the five-year extension for Gomez, which was not a guarantee until recently.

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has been credited with being instrumental in securing the services of the Catford-native for the foreseeable future, as the beloved German manager is looking to mold the squad on the red half of Merseyside into a young outfit fit to compete for years to come.

Interest in Gomez is said to have been considerable with even more lucrative offers from elsewhere on the table, but Klopp’s influence was enough to tie the England man to the club nonetheless.

Klopp was quick to heap praise on Gomez as well, stating “The best thing of all is that his best years are still to come and I could not be happier that this will happen with us.”

Though Liverpool can currently count on Dutch star Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, and young French international defender Ibrahima Konaté, Gomez has a vital role to play in the team as a versatile defender capable of being deployed at both center-back as well as right-back.

With a valuable and experienced player locked in for the next five years, Liverpool will hope to keep making the right steps in order to push on in their efforts to outstrip Manchester City as the dominant force in the Premier League.
