In a press conference, the German coach of the Reds, Jürgen Klopp, praised the Spanish coach of Villarreal, Unai Emery.
Before the confrontation between the two teams, this Wednesday evening, in the first leg of the Champions League, Jürgen Klopp said all the good things he thought about the formation of the former PSG coach: “We analyzed Villarreal’s game. I already had a lot of respect for Unai Emery and Villarreal. But I had only followed their games against Bayern and Juventus with one eye. Since then, I have analyzed these matches. Wow, impressive. (Unai) Emery is obsessed with the smallest detail. He prepares for all situations that may arise. And his team executes his plans. He aligns different tactics, sets up different pressings, he has several options depending on the result. It is really impressive. Unai (Emery) is a world class coach, he does an excellent job.”
Favorite against Villarreal, Liverpool will however not be surprised by Unai Emery and his players, announces Jügen Klopp: “They may have had an advantage in the previous two rounds. Juve and Bayern may have underestimated them. But we never do that. They lost that little edge.”
