Timothy Fosu-Mensah has returned to Bayer Leverkusen after missing the start of training in early December because of muscle problems. On Monday, the right-back returned to the training pitch.
Fosu-Mensah moved from Manchester United to Bayer Leverkusen on January 13, 2021. He had another knee ligament damage on February 28, 2021, which halted his 2020-21 season.
Fosu-Mensah made his first appearance in 321 days on January 15, 2022, coming off the bench in the second half of a 2-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
This season the 24-year-old has played seven games in the German Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso will be pleased to see Timothy Fosu-Mensah back in training because of his ability to as a defensive midfielder, centre-back, or full-back.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah lasted played in Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-0 victory against Stuttgart on the 12th of November. He replaced Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong.
Bayer Leverkusen is 12th on the league table with 18 points after 15 games. Bayer will play Borussia Monchengladbach when the league resumes in January.
