Jeff Schlupp could be a Premier League winner at the end of the season.

But that could have been so different – and it’s all because of Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Leicester winger has played a crucial role in their astonishing march towards the title this season, but has revealed he nearly joined Manchester United three years ago.

Schlupp was handed an extended trial at Old Trafford after catching the eye of Ferguson, but a move fell through when the Scot announced his retirement from the game.

The Ghanaian instead remained at Leicester despite spending nearly six weeks training with the United first team.

But he doesn’t have any regrets, despite admitting he ‘could never turn down a move to Manchester United.’
