A fresh insight into the demands laid out by Leeds United for star attacker and known Barcelona target Raphinha has been provided on Saturday.
Brazilian wide-man Raphinha has of course long been tipped for a Camp Nou switch.
This comes with Xavi Hernandez and co. eyeing reinforcements on the right flank, braced for the free agent departure of Ousmane Dembele, and expected return of loanee Adama Traore to Wolves.
The Blaugrana’s original plan centered around taking advantage of a clause in Raphinha’s Leeds contract.
The stipulation in question would have come into play in the case of the Whites being relegated from the Premier League, placing the club’s star attacker on the market for a fee of just €25 million.
Jesse Marsch’s troops, though, of course managed to stave off the drop in the end, meaning the board at Elland Road are free to place their own valuation on Raphinha’s head.
And it is precisely this aspect of the negotiation process which appears to have thrown a spanner in the works of Barcelona’s attempts to land the 25-year-old.
As alluded to above, on Saturday, a fresh insight into the terms laid out by Leeds in negotiations over Raphinha’s potential sale has been provided.
The info comes courtesy of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has reiterated that a €55 million price-tag has been placed on the Brazilian’s head.
Not only that, but the Yorkshire outfit have also demanded that any such fee be coughed up in one hefty instalment, refusing to open to the prospect of a payment plan spread out over several years.
All of this comes despite Raphinha himself having long been in ‘advanced talks’ over the terms of a contract at the Camp Nou.
Not less than €55m, no payments in many years/installments. Leeds have not changed their conditions for Raphinha’s transfer. ⚪️ #LUFC
