Leeds: Luis Sinisterra attracting interest

Leeds United winger Luis Sinisterra is already attracting significant interest in the transfer market.

What’s the talk?

Transfer Focus

That’s according to Carlo Pellegatti, with the Italian journalist revealing in comments cited by Milan Live (via Sport Witness) that, despite having only joined Leeds from Feyenoord in a £21m move back in July, AC Milan are already extremely interested in the idea of bringing the 23-year-old to the San Siro.

Pellegatti went on to state that the Colombia international – who he claims reminds him stylistically of current Milan winger Rafael Leao – would be a player who is in the Serie A side’s financial range, suggesting that the forward has a current market valuation of between €25m (£22m) and €35m (£31.5m).

In his comments, the journalist said: “My big dream is only one, Luis Sinisterra. At Feyenoord, he played on the left, but at Colombia and Leeds, he starts from the right.

“He reminds me to death of Leao, even if he is less overbearing and devastating in the race. But he has great class and confidence, he reminds me of Rafa.

“Having one on the right and the other on the left, with [Charles] De Ketelaere as an attacking midfielder, would drive me crazy. Moncada followed him, Milan like him. He has a market value of €25-35m, therefore in the range of the club.”

Catastrophe

While it is true that Sinisterra has only started three games since his move to Elland Road this summer, the 23-year-old is already proving journalist Juan Arango’s claim that he was a “huge get” for Leeds to be correct, as, despite his limited game time, the winger has already made a huge impact for the Whites.

Indeed, on his full debut in a 3-1 Carabao Cup win over Barnsley, the £36m-rated talent was a continuous thorn in the Tykes’ side, completing 86% of his passes, winning six of his eight duels and completing two of his three attempted dribbles – not to mention scoring the opener with a long-range curler and winning the penalty that saw Mateusz Klich double the home side’s lead.

This display clearly convinced Jesse Marsch that the forward was ready for Premier League football, with the 48-year-old unleashing Sinisterra from the off in both the 1-1 draw with Everton and the 5-2 defeat at Brentford – with the 23-year-old finding the back of the net in each fixture, as well as earning impressive SofaScore match ratings of 7.4 and 7.0 respectively.

Furthermore, the player who Arango dubbed a “tremendous talent” also impressed while on duty with Colombia over the recent international break, as, despite starting both fixtures on the bench, Sinisterra scored three goals for Los Cafeteros, one in the 4-1 win over Guatemala and two in the 3-2 comeback against Mexico.

As such, considering the clear goal threat that the £21m signing adds to Marsch’s starting XI – something that is only likely to increase as his chemistry within the Leeds squad develops further – it is evident that cashing in on the winger for as little as £22m so soon after his arrival at Elland Road would be something of a catastrophe for Victor Orta.

Indeed, Sinisterra’s current market valuation is already £14m greater than the lowest figure Pellegatti claims the forward could be available for, and, should the 23-year-old continue his early season form over the remainder of the current campaign, it would appear extremely likely that his worth will only have increased further by the time next summer rolls around.
