Leaders Aduana FC relinquish lead to draw with Kotoku Royals

League leaders Aduana FC labored to a 1-1 draw against bottom placed Kotoku Royals at the theatre of Dreams at Dawu on Monday.

The two-time champions had the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table following Medeama SC’s defeat to Nsoatreman FC on Sunday. Regardless, the Ogya lads went into the game looking to pick the points to open a five point lead over second placed Bechem United who beat FC Samartex to close the gap on the leaders.

Kotoku Royals have been absolutely outstanding since their move from Cape Coast to Dawu – and sought to continue that smooth run against the leaders but that did not come to fruition as they were  held at home for the third time on the spin.

Isaac Mintah gave Aduana FC the lead in the 71st minute but Kotoku Royals drew level in injury time much to the disappointment of the leaders.

Prince Dogbe scored the equalizer inside three minutes of added time to break the hearts of Aduana FC.

The draw takes Aduana Stars to 51 points – while Kotoku Royals continue to languish at the bottom of the table with 23 points.
