Ghanaian coach James Kwesi Appiah is set to extend his contract with the Sudan national team, with his current deal expiring in September 2026.
According to Ignatius Osei-Fosu, the assistant coach, the Sudan FA has already presented the technical team with a fresh contract.
Appiah, who took over in September 2023, led Sudan to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, a notable achievement.
Under Appiah’s guidance, Sudan has shown impressive form, including a victory over Ghana during the 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign.
The team progressed from Group E of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, after battling Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Burkina Faso.
They were eventually eliminated by Senegal in the R16.
Appiah’s contract extension is expected to keep him at the helm until 2028, reflecting the Sudan FA’s confidence in his ability to build a competitive team.
