Interim Management Committee (IMC) member of Asante Kotoko, Kwesi Appiah, has expressed confidence that the Porcupine Warriors will hit a higher level in the second half of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Kotoko endured a challenging first round but still managed to stay firmly in the title conversation, finishing second on the table with 30 points after 16 matches, having lost just two games.
With the second round set to begin this weekend, Appiah — who currently serves as head coach of Sudan’s national team — believes the signs of improvement are already visible.
“I’m part of the IMC, and we thank God they’re picking up,” Appiah said.
“It won’t be easy, especially in the second round of the league, so I am hoping that we continue to improve.”
The former Black Stars coach pointed to squad stability as a major factor behind Kotoko’s gradual rise, admitting that frequent transitions often slow progress.
“Last season, during the second round, some of the players had just joined the team and needed time, and that is one of the key problems we always have,” he explained.
“And sometimes we don’t have patience, but I can see that they’re now picking up slowly. I hope in the second round they’re able to play well and make everyone who supports Kotoko back home happy.”
Kotoko have already moved to strengthen the squad, recently signing midfielder Prince Badu from Nations FC, as they look to maintain momentum.
The Reds are unbeaten in their last three league matches and will begin the second round with an away test against Swedru All Blacks in their Matchday 17 fixture at the Swedru Stadium.
