Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo is determined to fight his way into Real Oviedo’s starting lineup as he looks to maintain his upward trajectory for both club and country.
Since earning his first Black Stars call-up in September 2025, Sibo’s club form has come under scrutiny, with the Spanish side often rotating him in and out of the squad.
The midfielder has featured in just six of Oviedo’s eleven La Liga matches so far this season.
“I am going to fight for my place at Oviedo to play more regularly every weekend,” he said to Graphic Sports.
“That’s one thing I’m focusing on, working hard to be in the team every weekend to play in the league.”
His rise to prominence with the national team came under unexpected circumstances. Drafted into Ghana’s squad late due to Thomas Partey’s injury and Elisha Owusu’s suspension ahead of the qualifier against Mali in Accra, Sibo grabbed the chance with both hands.
He played the full match and impressed head coach Otto Addo, earning praise for his composure and physical presence in midfield.
That performance turned him from a squad outsider into one of Ghana’s emerging midfield options. But while his international stock continues to rise, Sibo knows that sustaining it depends on regular minutes in Spain.
