Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has vehemently denied accusations of meddling in national team coaches’ decisions regarding player selections.
During an encounter with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Monday, Okraku responded to a petition by Save Ghana Football, which followed the Black Stars’ disappointing group-stage exit at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars managed to pick up only two points in Group B, drawing with Egypt and Mozambique after losing their opening game against Cape Verde.
“They [national team coaches] have made public statements not once, not twice about the environment this FA has created to enable them to work,” Okraku said.
“Coach Addo has said on platforms that one of the key reasons he accepted to come back is the fact that he is allowed to do the work the way he wants to work.”
“Players representing Ghana are solely selected by the technical teams of our national teams,” he concluded.
The team will be in action this month against Sudan in 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier.
