Kurt Okraku advises GFA Elite Academy players

President Kurt Simeon-Okraku met and interacted with the GFA Elite Academy players on Wednesday June 19, 2024, urging them to take their careers seriously.

The President held a joint discussion with the playing body and the technical staff of both the Boys and Girls Teams before they engaged in two exhibition games at the Union Park, University of Ghana.

He advised the teenagers to stay focused and grounded as they embark on a football career path which has potentially far-reaching positive implications on their futures.

“All of you have a good chance of realising your dreams of becoming good footballers. As you get the right tuition, it is important for you to be attentive and learn,” President Simeon-Okraku advised

“The uniqueness of this Academy also comes from the fact that, it is not just a place for teaching you to be good footballers but also to become the masters of the rules of the game.”

“I will urge all of you to take your lessons seriously both on and off the pitch. Take them serious to realise your goal. The GFA will increasingly and steadily increase the support to the Academy.”

President Simeon-Okraku said the Ghana Football Association is taking steps to resolve challenges confronting the Academy.

“Every new thing starts with challenges. Over time, we’ll steady the ship and make it comfortable for everyone associated with the Academy.”

He added: “We are looking forward to discovering the next generation of superstars like Kudus (Mohammed), Gyan (Asamoah) and Adjoa Bayor.

The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo, said his outfit will continue to monitor the progress of the players.

“We’ll continue to monitor your progress as you continue on this football journey and provide you with the support you need to thrive in your endeavours.” he said.

FIFA officials and representatives from 17 African Member Associations (MAs) of FIFA, who are participating in a five-day workshop on Talent Development Scheme Exchange Workshop in Ghana, witnessed two exhibition matches involving the Boys and Girls Team at the Union Park, University of Ghana.
